Sedation
IV Sedation
Commonly known as Sleep Dentistry. In our office this type of sedation is used for wisdom teeth extractions. The level of sedation may range from minimal, where you feel drowsy but are able to talk, to deep sedation, where you will not remember the procedure. This is considered a conscious sedation, which helps you relax, and you will likely not remember the procedure afterwards.
Oral Sedation
This type of sedation is taken as a pill orally 1 hour prior to any treatment performed in our office. You will feel calm and relaxed throughout the procedure. With the IV sedation and oral sedation you will need to be dropped off and picked up as the effects can last for up to 6 hours or longer.
Nitrous Oxide
Commonly known as Laughing Gas. The sedative is administered through a small mask that fits over your nose, when it is inhaled it results in a calm, euphoric feeling. It can be used as a mild sedative and is safe and reversible. You will still be able to communicate with the dentist during the procedure and drive to and from your appointment.
